TranchessDAO #9 - New Turbo & Stable Projects Onboarding Process and Procedure

Summary:

With four protocol collaborations up and running under our Turbo & Stable pillar, we continue to receive proposals from different projects. Meanwhile, we have also received feedback from the community, asking to participate in the decision process, which aligns with our next step.

We propose to involve community voting in all future Turbo & Stable project launches. The following content will explain the detailed process & procedure and the reasons.

Abstract:

We propose to launch new projects based on the following procedure.

Who

  • Projects with solid audit reports or auditing plans in the near future (prior to the actual launch of the collaboration).
  • Common underlyings that fit into the general restaking narrative; for other underlyings, we can discuss them on a per-case basis.
  • The collaboration can be with a certain protocol or a new chain.

How

  1. Reach out to the Tranchess team over on TG to start a conversation;
    a. A deck/proposal would be ideal for easier understanding and discussion;

  2. To reach a preliminary cooperation intent, the following basic requirements must be met:
    a. The collaboration is technically doable;
    b. The collaboration does not conflict with the current ongoing collaborations or business models;
    c. The partnership will bring new yield opportunities and growth potentials for the community.

  3. Once mutually agreed upon, the project team would:
    a. Register an account on the Tranchess forum;
    b. Post their proposal to launch on Tranchess based on the template provided by Tranchess team;
    c. The proposal will be up for community review and voting.

  4. Voting criteria and requirements:
    a. The voting will last for 7 days.
    b. A minimum of 200k veCHESS needs to participate in the voting process;
    c. The proposal needs to receive more than 50% yes votes.

Motivation

We’ve always wanted to engage our community further in the DAO governance process, and the Turbo & Stable collaboration is a great way to do so.

  • The Turbo & Stable model is relatively fixed, making DAO decisions straightforward while minimizing technical deployment and availability concerns.
  • It adds natural utility to veCHESS governance.
  • By engaging the community in this project-screening process, we will be able to:
    • Launch projects with actual needs from the community;
    • Make sure the tech team’s time and efforts are put to the most efficient use;
    • Allow the project team sufficient time to assess and communicate with the community, which ensures the highest quality.
  • The voting process also serves as a natural pre-announcement for the community to prepare ahead of time so they don’t miss out on potential yield opportunities.

For

Allowing the community to vote and decide on the collaboration adds utility to veCHESS, forms a decentralized decision-making process that values the community’s preferences, and ensures project qualities for better collaboration results.

Against

This voting process and its requirements may exclude some promising new projects.

Voting is open from 12 pm UTC, August 15 to 12 pm UTC, August 22, 2024.
